For the past 3 days or so, I have yet again been sick with the stomach ickies that the girls gave me. It wasn’t too bad this time, only 1.5 days of diarrhea, and I threw up once yesterday while in the car! Eddie actually had to pull over so that I could jump out and throw up. I stupidly wanted orange juice knowing that my tummy was not right, but I just had to have it. So, I guess that’s what I get. :)

I had a scheduled ultrasound yesterday and a cervical check. We got some awesome pics of the boys which I will post. Then they checked my cervix. It is down to 2.7cm with a bit of funneling from 3.6cm and closed 2 weeks ago. That concerned the peri a bit. He came in and talked to me about reducing my activity, etc. working from home more, or seeing what we could work out since he knows that people don’t like to not have both salaries coming in.

Then he asked if I was having contractions, and I said yeah I do occasionally. They decided to hook me up to see what was going on. Up until this point stupid me was so distracted by this that I never mentioned the sickness.

They hooked me up and I was having contractions every 4 minutes! Then he came in and said “ok, well you are going to L&D!” He originally said that I would probably be there for 2 days so that they could do the course of steroids for the babies, lungs, etc. THEN I remember to tell him that I had been sick and am probably dehydrated. He said that can certainly cause the contractions.

So I went over, and was eventually hooked up to the contraction monitor, heartbeat, monitors, and and iV. One of the OBs from my practice came to see me and said that we would first see how I did on just the iV, but if the contractions did not calm way down after 1 liter I would be admitted and given the lovely mag, etc.

Luckily before the first iV bag was even finished the contractions had spread out to 18 minutes apart. Then half way through the 2nd bag they were way less than that. The nurse told me that I had only 6 contractions the whole time that I was there. Thank God!!

I got a lovely (NOT) pelvic exam and they took a few swabs for various tests including a fetal fibronectin test. For those not familiar, that tests tells if your body plans to go into labor within the next 2 weeks or so. Luckily, that was negative!

The first doc that examined me said that it felt like I was about 1 cm. I got another exam before I left and they said the same.

At right about 5 pm they told me that I could go home. As soon as they took the iV off which had been feeding me all day, I started feeling the affects of not eating all day long. I got very weak and light headed, etc. and asked for some crackers. I had those and some water, and it did not help, I wasn’t feeling much better so another nurse brought me some fruit juice to bring up my blood sugar. That helped and I felt much better. I munched on that and crackers while I waited for Eddie to come back. He had just left to get the girls from school.

Now I need to call my doc and peri today and see what the plan is for the coming weeks. The peri said that he would write a note for me to do more working from home.

So, that’s my story!

Wow, it’s been 6 weeks since I wrote the last time. Since then I have another another level II ultrasound. My cervix still looked great at 3.7cm. The babies were awesome. They are so cute already. :) Baby A weighed around 1 lb 10 oz and Baby B weighed around 1 lb 12 oz. They measured about right on too.

I have really gotten big. If you compare my pics from when I was 25 weeks pregnant with the girls, and 25 weeks pregnant now, there is quite a difference.

25 Weeks Pg with the girls

25 weeks pg with the boys (about a week ago)

I have gained about 26.5 pounds which is really good, I hope to be able to keep that up. I do need to do better with my eating and eat healthier things. It is really hard though when being so tired and busy. I eat easy things.

This week is a major milestone for me. At this time with the girls, I was put on bedrest for a shortened cervix. This time, so far so good. I know that work stress was the cause of it before. I am so glad to be away from that job.

I cannot believe that these 2 can possibly be here in as little as 9 weeks. YIKES!!
