My boys turned 1 on May 12!!! Happy Birthday boys. :) Mommy loves you. We had a pretty good day filled with friend and family and presents. Luckily they did not get as much stuff and they could have, I would not know what to do with it all!

They are doing very well and they are so cute if I do say so myself. :) Jayden is walking all over 99% of the time now. Kristopher will be soon, I can feel it. What he is doing, is trying to talk! Yep, he has legibly repeated a couple of words and he tries to say his brother’s name. He can also “answer” when called upon. :)

I will try hard to get my photo gallery fixed and get pics up tonight.

I set up a forum here a while ago, but I have still been tweaking it, and styling it, etc so I did not announce it. I recently found that I suddenly had 7 users. 2 of those were me. I checked out the other 5 and all appeared to be some type of spam bots pointing to crib bedding.

I deleted all of those and I am currently putting spam/bot protection in place. So, in the off chance that you registered and you are a real person, i apologize, please re-register. :)

Abbot Laboratories Recalls 5,000 Cases of Premature Infant Formula

Friday, May 25, 2007

WASHINGTON The Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories on Friday recalled about 5,000 cases of 2-ounce bottles of a highly specialized liquid ready-to-feed formula used only for premature infants because they dont contain as much iron as indicated on the label.

Similac Special Care 24 Cal / fl. oz. Ready-to-Feed Premature Infant Formula with Iron, primarily sold through pharmacies at the direction of a health care professional, is fed to premature infants after discharge from the hospital, Abbott said in a statement from its headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Premature infants fed this formula for more than a month after discharge could have an increased risk of developing anemia due to insufficient iron intake, the company said.

The recall was limited to three lots with stock code number 59582 and lot numbers 46815D5, 47847D5 or 52023D5 printed on the outside carton and case and the lot numbers 44427X8, 44427X81 or 50005X8 printed on the bottom of the bottles. No other liquid or powdered Similac infant formulas were affected.

The three lots of infant formula were distributed in the United States between November 2006 and May 2007.

I would really like to know why my kids stay so sick! I know that they are in daycare, but give me a freaking break!!! As soon as one cold goes away, another one comes back. We had a good stretch of wellness going then almost a month ago we had to encounter a couple of sick kids, then all the other kids at the school seemed to be sick, and now IT WON’T LEAVE!!! I am so sick of snot. It really is ridiculous. I hate having to drug my kids just so they can get some rest :( But if I don’t, they would be up coughing and get no sleep. UGH!!

And this Chicago weather is certainly not helping. Up and down, up and down, up and down! 2 day ago it was over 90 degrees. Right now it is 55. AHHHH. I am sick of it.

I really just want them to all be well and happy.:(

So it is a great article if I do say so myself. :o) First the minor quote mistakes did not bother me, but I have decided to at least correct them here to make myself feel better. They do change the context of the story and I have gotten several questions from people that know us regarding this 2nd one.

Quote: “Eddie administered the steroid shots, he said, often distracting his wife before injecting her. They waited pensively while their children, which they now knew were two girls, grew in Kristile’s womb.”

Actually, it was the terbutaline pump site that Eddie had to change once a week. The steroid shots were administered when I was in the hospital by the docs.

———-

Quote: “But women who take some fertility drugs even once have a higher probability of conceiving multiples in any future pregnancy, Kristile said. She was one of these women.”

Actually, I said that women who have one set of twins have a higher chance of having another set in future pregnancies. NOT that women who take fertility drugs have that chance. Fertility drugs wear off and would need to be taken again to be effective. I took only 2 cycles of clomid, a very mild fertility pill, which has only a 5% chance of twinning.

I really do think it was a very good article. It was very fascinating seeing it all in print. Thank you Star!

cover.jpgA local Suburan Chicago paper interviewed me for their Mother’s Day centerpiece story. It’s very strange to look at a paper and see yourself on the cover.

Check out my story here :) Kristopher got up at 5:24, so I went to the computer to look up the article. Eddie said “no, don’t read it there, it’s not the same”, so at 5:30 he got dressed and went to the store and bought 10 papers.

There are a couple of minor mistakes on details in the article, but no big deal. I think it’s great!

Enjoy.
